She is survived by her four children, Cynthia Meyer Hanchey (Dale), Carl Meyer (LiLi), DebraMeyer Vaughn (Tom), Monte J. Wiseman.She returned to the Gulf Coast several years ago to be near her family. While her main interest and love was serving on the Decorative Arts Council of the Seattle Art Museum, she was also an avid supporter of the Seattle Symphony, a Member of the Barre of the Pacific Northwest Ballet, and a member of the Washington State Governor’s Mansion Foundation.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marks Joseph Meyer, her four sisters, Rosa Mae Duncan Reed, Pearl Duncan Bougeard, Roxie Duncan Hill, Delores Duncan Kinsey, her brothers Buddy Duncan, Isaac Duncan, Aaron Duncan, VirgilDuncan, Denver Duncan and Wayne Duncan as well as her second husband R. ![]() She was a collector of books and instilled that love of reading to her grandchildren.Neva resided over 40 years on Mercer Island, Washington, a suburb of Seattle, Washington. During her numerous trips to France, she acted as the unofficial translator for the groups. Having grown up in South Louisiana she was a student of the French language and continued her French studies her entire life. She was a fearless traveler and loved these travels. A widow at 34, she continued to live in Crowley with her children where she served in numerous organizations both as a member, as well as an officer of the local Parent Teacher Association and later in the National Parent Teacher Association (receiving an Honorary Life Membership) and in the Women’s Garden Club, as well as various other organizations.An avid genealogist, she travelled both in the United States and abroad to research her ancestors. She met and married Marks Joseph Meyer from Crowley who had returned from serving in WWII. Upon her high school graduation, she relocated to Crowley, Louisiana where she began her first job in retail as a bookkeeper. She graduated from Gueydan High School in 1943 as Salutatorian, receiving the American Legion Award and a scholarship to Southwestern Louisiana Institute.
